Amaie Energia e Servizi carried out an institutional visit to Pisa to study the operation of smart recycling stations and evaluate new solutions to introduce in Sanremo and in the towns within the service area. The mission involved Operations Director Luca Pesce and Sector Manager Davide Bianchi, with the aim of strengthening environmental services and improving operational efficiency.
Pisa as a national benchmark
Pisa is considered one of the most advanced models in Italy for waste management. Its system is the focus of a recent publication by Marco Redini and Nunzia Linzalone, which highlights the city’s best practices and the central role of smart recycling stations. A similar technology will be introduced in the coming weeks in the towns served by Amaie Energia e Servizi, thanks to PNRR projects planned in Sanremo, Santo Stefano al Mare and Terzorio. In Taggia, Badalucco, Civezza and Pietrabruna these systems are already in operation.
On-site operational insights
The visit allowed the delegation to observe the daily organization of the service and citizens’ usage flows. The team examined the innovations that increase recycling performance and analysed the technological systems used to monitor and maintain the stations. They also explored the communication strategies adopted to engage residents and encourage correct disposal behaviour.
Statements from the AMAIE delegation
Operations Director Luca Pesce highlights that collaboration with already established systems helps improve management models and makes services more modern. Davide Bianchi joined the early-morning shifts, observed the unloading procedures, measured operational times and identified improvements to apply across the AMAIE service area.
Sharing outcomes and next steps
Upon returning, Davide Bianchi will present the visit’s findings to colleagues Punzo and Zoccarato and to the team leaders working daily across the territory. The insights gathered will support the update of internal protocols and the preparation of new smart recycling stations across all towns in the service area.
Innovation and sustainability across AMAIE territories
Amaie Energia e Servizi continues to invest in the modernisation of environmental services, prioritising innovation, sustainability and knowledge exchange with the most advanced models at national level.
