Born from the collaboration between AMAIE Energia e Servizi and the Cristoforo Colombo Institute of Sanremo, the project “EcoRevolution: We Make the Difference” engaged students from class 5B ITI in a hands on educational experience focused on environmental sustainability. The initiative centered on recycling, waste separation and the promotion of responsible environmental behaviors.
Students discover the journey of waste
The project came to life on March 30, 2026, with a visit to the headquarters of AMAIE Energia e Servizi. During the meeting, company staff presented how waste collection services operate. They explained the rules of waste separation, illustrated the journey of materials after disposal and explored the principles that guide recycling and resource recovery. Students had the opportunity to observe first hand the daily work required to provide an efficient and sustainable service. The experience also helped them understand how citizens’ choices directly influence the quality of recycling results.
Six topics to tell the story of recycling
Following the visit, the students developed the project content by working in groups dedicated to the main waste categories. Through research, discussion and writing activities, they created informative content focused on paper, glass, plastic, organic waste, residual waste and the Ecocentro recycling facility. Each group explored the lifecycle of materials and their transformation through recycling. The students showed how proper waste separation can turn waste into a valuable resource for the community.
Seven videos to raise community awareness
The project led to the production of seven videos. Alongside a backstage documentary covering the different stages of the initiative, the students created six thematic videos dedicated to paper, glass, plastic, organic waste, residual waste and the Ecocentro. Each video clearly explains the importance of proper waste separation and highlights the value of recycling for the environment and the circular economy.
In addition, the project enabled students to develop technical, communication and digital skills. They worked as a team and took part in a real initiative designed for the community. In this way, they became active participants in an environmental education project aimed at the entire local area.
A project that brings school and community together
“We strongly believe in the partnership between schools and companies to create practical educational experiences connected to the local community. Our goal is to encourage young people to embrace sustainability and environmental responsibility, making them active participants through dialogue and direct engagement with the community,” said Sergio Tommasini, President of AMAIE Energia e Servizi.
A similar view was expressed by Lucia Jacona, Principal of the Cristoforo Colombo Institute, who highlighted the educational value of the initiative and the importance of strengthening collaboration between schools and local organizations to provide students with increasingly practical and meaningful experiences.
The videos will be published on the communication channels of AMAIE Energia e Servizi. Through the content created by the students, the EcoRevolution project will help raise awareness among citizens and families about recycling, waste separation and proper waste management. The initiative confirms the importance of collaboration between schools and local stakeholders in promoting environmental awareness and encouraging responsible behavior throughout the community.
The videos will be published through the communication channels of AMAIE Energia e Servizi: Facebook and Instagram.
