Single-material glass collection in Arma di Taggia

Single-material glass collection in Arma di Taggia

Starting from 1 January 2026, the Municipality of Taggia, in the Arma area, has introduced single-material glass collection. Under the new system, residents must dispose of glass only, without mixed materials. This change improves the quality of separate waste collection and supports proper recycling processes.

What changes for residents

With the introduction of single-material glass collection, disposal rules change accordingly. Residents must place glass on its own in the dedicated container. At the same time, cans and tins must no longer be disposed of together with glass. Instead, cans must be disposed of together with plastic, using the yellow bag or yellow container. As a result, materials are managed more efficiently and disposal errors are significantly reduced.

Why separating glass and cans matters

By correctly separating materials, residents help to:

  • improve the quality of recycled glass
  • enhance the recovery of plastic and metal
  • increase the overall efficiency of urban waste management services

Ultimately, even small daily actions contribute to tangible environmental benefits.

Ecoislands Sanremo: service update in Via Pietro Agosti and Via G. Galilei (first section)

Ecoislands Sanremo: service update in Via Pietro Agosti and Via G. Galilei (first section)

As part of the ongoing rollout of smart ecoislands in Sanremo, Amaie Igiene urbana now moves into a new operational phase and provides additional practical guidance for the installations located in Via Pietro Agosti and Via G. Galilei (first section). Following the installation carried out in recent weeks and an initial trial activation phase, the service continues along the planned progressive pathway, with clearer instructions to ensure correct and structured use of the ecoislands.

Amaie ecoislands in Via Pietro Agosti and Via G. Galilei: what changes

The smart ecoislands were installed last month in Via Pietro Agosti and in the first section of Via G. Galilei. During the initial stage, Amaie activated the service in trial mode, allowing residents and businesses to become familiar with the new system. Now that this first period has concluded, the service enters its second phase, which guides users towards a more aware and organised use of the ecoislands, with operational procedures that are clearly defined and progressively consolidated.

Service start and transitional phase

The ecoislands have been operational since 26 January 2026 in the streets concerned. At this stage, access is provided through manual activation, without using a badge, in order to facilitate familiarisation with the system. At the same time, existing street containers remain in place and will be removed gradually, in line with the ongoing evolution of the service.

Badge access from 2 March 2026

From 2 March 2026, use of the Amaie ecoislands in Via Pietro Agosti and Via G. Galilei (first section) will be allowed exclusively via a dedicated badge. The badge enables more efficient management of waste disposal and helps improve the quality of separate waste collection. If you have not received your badge at home, you can contact the Amaie Call Centre or visit the offices at the Palafiori directly.

Amaie Energia e Servizi visits Pisa: operational insights on smart recycling stations

Amaie Energia e Servizi visits Pisa: operational insights on smart recycling stations

Amaie Energia e Servizi carried out an institutional visit to Pisa to study the operation of smart recycling stations and evaluate new solutions to introduce in Sanremo and in the towns within the service area. The mission involved Operations Director Luca Pesce and Sector Manager Davide Bianchi, with the aim of strengthening environmental services and improving operational efficiency.

Pisa as a national benchmark

Pisa is considered one of the most advanced models in Italy for waste management. Its system is the focus of a recent publication by Marco Redini and Nunzia Linzalone, which highlights the city’s best practices and the central role of smart recycling stations. A similar technology will be introduced in the coming weeks in the towns served by Amaie Energia e Servizi, thanks to PNRR projects planned in Sanremo, Santo Stefano al Mare and Terzorio. In Taggia, Badalucco, Civezza and Pietrabruna these systems are already in operation.

On-site operational insights

The visit allowed the delegation to observe the daily organization of the service and citizens’ usage flows. The team examined the innovations that increase recycling performance and analysed the technological systems used to monitor and maintain the stations. They also explored the communication strategies adopted to engage residents and encourage correct disposal behaviour.

Statements from the AMAIE delegation

Operations Director Luca Pesce highlights that collaboration with already established systems helps improve management models and makes services more modern. Davide Bianchi joined the early-morning shifts, observed the unloading procedures, measured operational times and identified improvements to apply across the AMAIE service area.

Sharing outcomes and next steps

Upon returning, Davide Bianchi will present the visit’s findings to colleagues Punzo and Zoccarato and to the team leaders working daily across the territory. The insights gathered will support the update of internal protocols and the preparation of new smart recycling stations across all towns in the service area.

Innovation and sustainability across AMAIE territories

Amaie Energia e Servizi continues to invest in the modernisation of environmental services, prioritising innovation, sustainability and knowledge exchange with the most advanced models at national level.

Illegal waste dumping: new sanctions and stricter penalties from 9 October 2025

Illegal waste dumping: new sanctions and stricter penalties from 9 October 2025

Illegal waste dumping is an environmental crime punishable by severe sanctions and economic consequences for everyone. Every piece of waste abandoned on the street or in public spaces harms the environment, worsens urban quality and generates additional costs for the community.

New regulations in force from 9 October 2025

Legislative Decree D.L. 116/2025, converted into Law 47/2025, has introduced stricter penalties for those who illegally dump waste. The new measures apply to both citizens and companies or sector operators.

Illegal waste dumping by citizens

For non-hazardous waste: fines ranging from €1,500 to €18,000. If dumping occurs using motor vehicles, a driving licence suspension from one to four months may also apply.
For small-sized waste (such as cigarette butts, chewing gum or receipts): administrative fines from €80 to €320.

Illegal waste dumping by companies and operators

Owners of companies or entities who illegally dump or deposit waste in an uncontrolled manner may face:

  • Arrest from six months to two years or fines from €3,000 to €27,000;
  • Imprisonment from nine months to five years and six months in aggravated cases (for example, in contaminated areas or when the act poses a risk to public health or the environment);
  • Driving licence suspension from two to six months if dumping occurs using vehicles.

Aggravating circumstances for illegal waste dumping

Penalties increase if illegal dumping causes:

  • danger to human life or health;
  • damage to water, air, soil, ecosystems or biodiversity;
  • pollution of contaminated sites or their access areas.

An action that affects everyone

Beyond being a crime, illegal waste dumping creates a real cost for the entire community. Every abandoned item must be collected, transported and disposed of. This means more working hours, more vehicles in circulation and higher service management costs. All these expenses are directly reflected in the TARI waste tax paid by every citizen. In practice, those who dump waste make the whole community pay for their actions.

Separate waste collection in Liguria

In the 2022–2023 period, Liguria recorded a separate waste collection rate of 58.3%, the lowest among northern Italian regions.
A shared commitment is needed to improve this figure, reduce waste and contain disposal costs.
