Amaie Energia e Servizi at the Festival della Salute with an information point dedicated to separate waste collection

Amaie Energia e Servizi is taking part in the Festival della Salute in Sanremo, scheduled from 6 to 10 October 2025, with an information stand dedicated to citizens.
During the event, visitors can request information about urban hygiene services, collect calendars and brochures explaining the rules of separate waste collection, and learn more about the company’s activities across the local area.

“When the organisers contacted us to manage waste collection during the event, they also offered us the opportunity to set up an information point for the public. We gladly accepted the invitation, because being present and close to the community is very important to us,” explains Eng. Francesca Zoccarato, Head of Communication at Amaie Energia e Servizi.

A solidarity project for the recovery of used glasses

At the stand, Amaie Energia e Servizi is also presenting a container for the collection of used glasses, created in collaboration with the Lions Club Sanremo Host.
The initiative aims to give a second life to glasses that are no longer used and to support people in need.
After the Festival, the container will be available at three permanent collection points: at the AES Distribution offices at Palafiori, at the Ecopoint in Piazza Muccioli, and at the Ecopoint in via San Francesco.

“I would like to thank the President of Amaie Energia, Dr. Sergio Tommasini, Eng. Francesca Zoccarato and all their staff, as well as the members of the Lions Sanremo Host who developed this wonderful project,” says President Giorgio Cravaschino. “Those who donate glasses often keep old pairs they no longer use. Through this initiative, we can collect them, clean them, repair them and donate them to those in need via the Italian Lions Centre for the Collection of Used Glasses.”

A concrete commitment to reuse and sustainability

Amaie Energia e Servizi continues to promote reuse and social sustainability through tangible and shared actions.

“We want to give new life to items that often end up forgotten in a drawer. Collaborating with the Lions on this project is a concrete gesture of solidarity and respect for the environment. We have enthusiastically made equipment and spaces available,” underlines the company management.

With its participation in the Festival della Salute, Amaie Energia e Servizi strengthens its bond with the community. It also reaffirms its commitment to promoting virtuous behaviour.

The company fosters open dialogue with citizens. It encourages good practices in separate waste collection. It promotes a culture of sustainability as a driver of collective growth. Do you know how much illegal waste dumping costs?

Do you know how much illegal waste dumping costs?

Dumping waste along roads or in public spaces is not just an act of incivility, but an environmental offence with serious consequences. Penalties range from civil and administrative sanctions for private citizens, with fines from €300 to €3,000, to criminal liability when dumping is linked to commercial activities (business or craft-related). In the most serious cases, such as hazardous waste, administrative fines can reach up to €26,000, along with the confiscation of the vehicle used. With the new environmental decree, penalties have been further tightened, ranging from €1,500 to €18,000, with the possibility of driving licence suspension and even arrest for up to 48 hours.

Beyond legal implications, illegal waste dumping creates a tangible cost for the community. Every piece of waste abandoned in the environment must be collected and disposed of, increasing service management costs and waste disposal expenses, which directly impact the TARI waste tax.

Before leaving waste on the street, remember that this action is not only a crime, but also a direct cost to your own wallet.

Separate waste collection in Liguria

In the two-year period 2022–2023, Liguria recorded only 58.3% separate waste collection, the lowest figure among northern Italian regions. This result highlights the need for greater commitment from all citizens to achieve sustainability goals and reduce waste disposal costs.

Intensified night-time washing: three dedicated teams operate on a rotating basis in the San Martino and Foce districts, in the hamlets of Coldirodi, Poggio and Bussana, and along high-density streets such as via Martiri della Libertà, via Pietro Agosti and via Galileo Galilei. Existing teams remain focused on city centre streets, both pedestrian and non-pedestrian, as well as the old town.

Extraordinary actions against illegal waste dumping, active across three daily shifts (morning, afternoon and night) to ensure a prompt and continuous response.

Reinforced weed control, with five operational teams, including one additional team dedicated to the summer period.

Sanremo extraordinary urban hygiene plan for the summer season

Sanremo extraordinary urban hygiene plan for the summer season

With the arrival of the summer season, Sanremo sees a significant increase in population due to seaside tourism and the return to second homes. As a result, the city is preparing to address key issues related to urban cleanliness and decorum. In this context, a new extraordinary urban hygiene plan is now in its final stages. The plan, announced by Councillor for the Environment Ester Moscato, will be officially presented in the coming days.

Strengthening cleaning activities and monitoring illegal dumping

The initiative aims to strengthen city-wide cleaning activities, increasing the frequency of street and sidewalk washing and the cleaning of areas around recycling islands, while also reinforcing actions against illegal waste dumping, which typically rises during the summer months. Alongside the established presence of the Rangers d’Italia, the Municipality plans to engage an external company to monitor and intervene during less supervised time slots.

Councillor Ester Moscato’s hands-on approach

In her first year in office within the Mager administration, Councillor Moscato adopted a hands-on approach to fine-tune the new plan. “Last week,” she explained, “I travelled across much of the municipal area by scooter to personally verify the most critical situations reported by residents. I specifically requested an increase in washing activities, but above all that they be carried out with care and rigour. As regards illegal dumping, I asked for the operational support of a private company that will soon begin patrolling sensitive areas, especially during hours not covered by the Rangers. The objective is twofold: to safeguard urban decorum and to respond concretely to residents’ concerns.”

AMAIE Energia e Servizi support for municipal measures

Support for the municipal measures also comes from AMAIE Energia e Servizi, the municipal company responsible for urban hygiene in Sanremo. Contacted on the matter, President Sergio Tommasini stated: “We are working in close coordination with Councillor Ester Moscato, municipal offices and our technical teams to strengthen our summer presence across the city. We will also engage with trade associations. An intensified operational plan has been prepared for the most critical months of the year.”

Key priorities: illegal dumping and smart eco-islands

Appointed by Sanremo Mayor Alessandro Mager, Tommasini outlined the main priorities: “There are two key areas of action. On the one hand, tackling illegal waste dumping, which according to company estimates amounts to approximately 2,200–2,500 tonnes per year, with significant impacts in terms of urban degradation and costs for the community. On the other hand, the introduction of smart eco-islands, an innovation set to profoundly change citizens’ habits regarding separate waste collection. We will face new challenges, such as shifts in disposal patterns, the possible emergence of new dumping hotspots and new forms of TARI evasion. This is a deep cultural change that will require time and cooperation.”

Summer operational goals and citizen engagement

Tommasini concluded on the summer plan: “The goal is clear: to maximize washing and sanitisation activities and to increase operational responsiveness in cases of illegal dumping, especially in the most frequented areas.” AMAIE also stressed the importance of the relationship with residents: “Our Public Relations Office handles an average of over 620 reports per month, a figure that demonstrates the active involvement of citizens and our commitment to providing timely and effective responses.”
